Questions, answered
How scoring works, what costs money, and what you need to get started.
How is my score calculated?
Every score is deterministic. Reading, listening and dictation are marked word by word against the answer key, the way the real exam marks them. Speaking and writing are broken into components such as content, form, fluency and structure, each scored by a fixed rule that is shown to you. No AI guesses a number, so the same answer always receives the same score and you can see exactly where marks went.
Will I get the same score in the real exam?
No, and no third party can honestly promise that. Only Pearson’s own scored tests use the official engine. Treat the scores here as a consistent practice measure: good for seeing whether you are improving and which tasks are costing you marks, not as a prediction of your report.
Is instantpte free?
Practising every one of the 22 question types is free, and so are writing scores, the daily challenge and progress tracking. You only pay for two things: scoring your recorded speaking answers, and sitting timed mock tests. New accounts start with 10 coupons so you can try both before deciding.
Do coupons expire, or will I be charged again later?
Coupons never expire and nothing renews by itself. Every purchase is a one-time payment. There is no subscription, and no card is stored and charged again.
Can I get a refund?
If you paid and the coupons or pass were not delivered to your account, email info@instantpte.com and we will refund it. Payment is confirmed with the gateway before anything is credited, so this should be rare, but it is on us when it happens.
What do I need in order to practise?
A current browser on a phone, tablet or computer is enough for reading, writing, listening and mock tests. Speaking tasks record your voice, so those need a working microphone and permission to use it. There is nothing to install.
My consultancy says they will cover me. How does that work?
Your centre gives you a join link. Once you join and agree to share your results with them, your practice and mock tests are paid for by the centre, so you pay nothing. Your counsellor can then see your progress. You can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings, and they stop seeing your results immediately.
Which question types are covered?
All 22 PTE Academic task types, including the recently added Respond to a Situation and Summarize Group Discussion. Every type has practice questions, and a full mock test contains all of them in exam order.
Is instantpte connected to Pearson?
No. instantpte is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Pearson PLC. PTE Academic is Pearson’s exam.
How do I get help?
